The title compound, C17H20O3, the cycloheptane ring adopts a slightly distorted chair conformation. The planar five-membered ring is inclined at 57.13 (11) to the phenyl ring of the benzyloxy substituent. In the crystal structure, C?HO and C?H hydrogen bonds generate layers in the ac plane.
